E.L.A.: Room 30 is working on persuasion. We have started by analyzing persuasive writing to identify the elements authors use. Then, we will work on implementing these elements into our own writing.
Science: We are finishing our unit on matter. We will be starting a new unit on sound shortly.
Today in Room 30, students thought about rhythm and beats in poetry. They explored the wide range of poetic voices in free verse by looking at three different poems about a snowy day. In one poem, the wind is hurling snowballs. In another, a city is silenced by snow. Most students preferred the snowballs to the silence! Then students enjoyed listening to some of the great masters of rhythm in poetry in Nikki Giovanni's collection of Hip Hop poets.
